Discussion

The coastal storm that has been stalled out over the Atlantic Ocean during the past 24 hours is still having an effect this morning causing snow in the area as an inverted trough of low pressure that extends from the low pressure center swings through the Mid-Atlantic. Once this trough moves out of here later today, the door will open up in the atmosphere for a substantial warm up by late in the weekend and early next week. In fact, temperatures are likely to soar well into the 50’s on Sunday and could approach 60 degrees by Monday afternoon. It’ll stay mild on Tuesday as well, but showers will be likely by then as a cold front approaches from the Midwest. Once that front passes by, colder air will return to the Mid-Atlantic region for the middle and latter parts of next week.
