An early spring snowstorm is headed to the southern Rockies for later tonight into late Tuesday and it could bring 6-12 inches of total snowfall accumulations to the region. A storm system will move from the Great Basin to near the Four Corners region by tonight and then into eastern Colorado by tomorrow. Temperatures will start off at mild levels early tonight, but as colder air pours into the region after midnight, any rain will change to accumulating snow and that will continue for much of the day on Tuesday. Winds will pick up as well on Tuesday gusting past 40 mph and blowing and drifting is likely to cause dangerous road conditions. The snow will wind down tomorrow evening, but temperatures will drop to brutally cold levels near 10 degrees by early Wednesday. A warming trend develops late this week and we could flirt with the 60 degree mark for highs over the weekend.
