1:25 PM | "Home Run Weather" has arrived in Philly; Phillies offense should get a boost

Paul Dorian

Discussion

Perhaps there is some hope for the Phillies offense – and that even includes Ryan Howard - as “Home Run Weather” has reached the Philly metro region and the “Home Run Weather” app index is 10 out of 10 for tonight’s game against the Red Sox in South Philly. A “Bermuda high” type of weather pattern is setting up along the eastern seaboard and it will bring the first heat wave of the season to the DC-to-Philly-to-NYC corridor on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Temperatures today have climbed well into the 80’s across SE PA and, perhaps just as important, dew points have risen to near 70 degrees which makes it feel more oppressive. Thursday, Friday and Saturday will feature temperatures at or slightly above 90 degrees from DC-to-Philly-to-NYC and humidity levels will remain at summer-like levels. There is, however, an end already in sight for this upcoming heat wave as a strong cold front will reach the east coast by Sunday night or so and this front is likely to be associated with heavy showers and strong thunderstorms. Cooler weather is likely to follow early next week in the Mid-Atlantic region post frontal system.
