Discussion
Strong low pressure will pull away from the region today, but there will still enough instability in the atmosphere for lingering showers before genuine clearing takes place in the overnight hours. Severe weather is not a threat today as it was on Thursday with one strong line of storms passing through the Philly metro region during the mid-to-late morning hours causing some power outages and torrential downpours. A second batch of severe storms during the late afternoon/early evening hours generally stayed south of the Mason Dixon line causing problems, for example, in the DC metro region with a tornado reported in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Saturday promises to be a pleasant day throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures and humidity. Clouds will increase on Sunday and the early part of next week will likely become unsettled once again with the chance for some shower and thunderstorm activity from later Sunday through Tuesday.
