An area of showers and thunderstorms that extends from Berks County to York County is moving eastward right towards the northern and western suburbs of Philly and it should arrive to parts of that region between 11am and 1pm. This particular area of rain developed well ahead of a strong cool front that is currently located over the eastern Great Lakes and more widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely to affect the entire Philly metro region later this afternoon into the evening. Any storm today can be on the strong side with gusty winds and brief downpours.
