Discussion
The main part of the storm continues at this hour with snow falling throughout the Philly metro region. Very intense banding is lining up in the DC metro region and headed northeast towards the Philly metro region. Very heavy precipitation is likely in the Philly region after about 7pm or so and it’ll be a close call as to whether it’ll still be cold enough for all snow. If so, and odds are pretty good for the northern and western suburbs, then the snow will pile up very quickly and upper estimates for accumulations will easily be met - and perhaps will need to be increased. The rain/snow line is also advancing northward albeit very slowly (5 to 10 mph). As of 4pm, rain was falling in Dover, DE and Baltimore, MD, but it was still snowing in Wilmington, DE and South Philly. As long as it is snowing in South Philly then the northern and western suburbs will continue to get snow and they could get rocked later this evening. Best way to follow the snowfall in South Philly…just turn on the Army/Navy game.
