A snowstorm starts the week from the DC metro region-to-Philly-to-NYC. Precipitation transitions to all snow around here during the early morning hours and the heavy, wet snow will fall heavily at times from later this morning into the mid-afternoon hours. Average accumulations of 5-9 inches can be expected before the snow tapers off late today. The heavy, wet consistency of the snow today may cause problems on tree limbs later in the day as the weight increases with rising accumulation amounts. Another storm will bring a period of ice and/or snow to the region on Tuesday night before a changeover to plain rain on Wednesday and there can be some accumulation of ice and/or snow before the changeover; especially, in the northern and western suburbs. A third storm threatens for the weekend and it is too early to give details on precipitation type, but it promises to be a powerful storm with lots of moisture and it could turn out to be an all-out blizzard for parts of the Mid-Atlantic.
