Discussion
The quick thumping of snow earlier today dumped ~3 inches on much of the region including officially at Philly Int'l Airport which pushes this winter into 3rd place on the all-time snowiest winter list dating back to the 1800's. The total snow accumulation at Philly Airport is now 58.4" with the all-time high at 78.7" set just a few years ago in the winter of 2009-2010. While there can be another snow shower or two this morning, milder air will push temperatures to 40 degrees this afternoon, but then they'll drop back to below freezing in the overnight hours.
Wednesday morning could be a bit of a tricky period with light rain at times that can freeze on some sufaces N and W of the city. Looking ahead, it'll turn much milder by Friday afternoon ahead of a strong cold front with temperatures climbing towards the 60 degree mark. That front, however, will bring some rain to the region on Friday and maybe even a strong thunderstorm with gusty winds. The weekend will turn gradually colder and then much colder air is destined to return to the region by the middle of next week.
