Discussion

A weak frontal system has settled back to the south of the metro region and a cold front to our west is expected to arrive in the area late tomorrow. The combination of these two frontal systems will keep us very unsettled through tomorrow night and the result will be numerous showers and thunderstorms. Any shower that forms over the next 36 hours or so can produce torrential downpours and any thunderstorm can reach strong-to-severe levels. Localized flash flooding can occur with heavy rainfall piling up in a given location over a short period of time. Our weekend winning streak in the Mid-Atlantic region will continue as high pressure settles into the area. Humidity will lower on Saturday with the return of sunshine and a northwest breeze and Sunday promises to be quite nice with plenty of sunshine and comfortable conditions. Much warmer air will move into the region early next week with 90 degrees possible for highs in parts of the area.
