Discussion
Powerful thunderstorms pounded the region overnight well ahead of a cold frontal system and those storms put an end to our two-day heat spell as temperatures this afternoon should hold in the upper 70's for highs. The surface cold front will pass through the region later today and another round of showers is likely during the mid-day and afternoon hours with possible isolated thunderstorms that should not reach strong levels like last night. Much more comfortable air will arrive tonight and Friday looks to be a great day to close out the work week. The weekend will turn out pretty nice as well as comfortable temperatures and humidity levels will continue and, while a shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out on Saturday, most of the weekend should be rain-free. Pleasant weather conditions should persist on Monday as well.
