A major rain event is headed to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast US from later tomorrow into Wednesday with two to as much as five inches of rainfall on the table in spots by the end of the day on Wednesday. A cold front will approach from the Great Lakes region over the next couple of days along with an unusually strong upper level low and this will keep the weather very unsettled around here from later Tuesday into Wednesday with occasional showers and thunderstorms and some of the rain will be heavy at times. Flash flooding is a concern from this upcoming weather system in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast US and severe weather is also a possibility during from Virginia to New York on Tuesday night and then on Wednesday across New England where it will be a wild weather day. High pressure will follow behind the frontal system for the second half of the week and temperatures will once again stay at well below normal levels for this time of year.
