Discussion
The month of August ended with below normal temperatures in much of the Mid-Atlantic region which continued the trend begun in July; however, the first week of September will generally feature warmer-than-normal conditions. In fact, today could turn out to be the warmest day of the week with high temperatures this afternoon likely surpassing the 90 degree mark in most NYC metro locations. There is relief on the way however. A weak cool front will pass through the area tonight and the result will be a pretty decent chance for early evening showers and thunderstorms. High pressure will build back into the area for Wednesday and Thursday providing us with warm temperatures and noticeably lower humidity levels. The heat and humidity will build up again on Friday and then, as another cool front approaches by the early weekend, the threat for showers and thunderstorms will increase for Friday night and Saturday. Once that next cool front passes through, noticeably cooler conditions will take hold in the Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday and Monday.
