Discussion

High pressure has pushed off the Northeast coastline and this has allowed for the return of high humidity air into the I-95 corridor. While there can be scattered showers and thunderstorms later today and early tonight in the DC metro region, a more widespread threat comes later tomorrow with the approach of the next strong cool frontal system. Any thunderstorm that forms between this afternoon and tomorrow evening in the I-95 corridor can contain some heavy rainfall. Once that next cool front clears the east coast early on Sunday, much cooler air will push into the area and it’ll stay cooler-than-normal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Showers are possible on Monday and Tuesday from a coastal low pressure area that will likely form over the weekend.
