Low pressure along the east coast will keep us damp and quite cool today with a persistent low-level ocean flow of air out of the northeast. The steady rain associated with this low pressure area will mainly affect areas to the south and east of Route I-95, but there can be a bit of rain or drizzle later today that reaches the big cities between DC and NYC. This low will gradually pull away from the coastline on Wednesday and overall weather conditions will improve somewhat later in the day with partial sun possible and there should be a bit of a rebound in afternoon temperatures. Thursday promises to be the warmest day of the week ahead of the next strong cool front with temperatures bouncing back to the mid-to-upper 80’s in many spots along with a noticeable rise in humidity levels. Showers and thunderstorms are likely on Thursday afternoon and evening with the frontal passage and then another cool air mass reaches the Mid-Atlantic region at the end of the work week. Temperatures this weekend will remain quite cool and there is the threat for showers in the Mid-Atlantic region.
