A powerful nor’easter is still wreaking havoc with much of the Northeast US today as it churns off the New England coastline. Snow will continue around here, heavy at times, and there will continue to be some blowing and drifting as winds gust past 40 mph. The worst of the impact will be across Long Island (18" already at Islip), Connecticut and into the rest of southern New England where blizzard warnings remain in effect. By early tonight, the low pressure area will begin to weaken as it heads towards the Canadian Maritimes. High pressure arrives here on Wednesday and then a clipper low is expected to throw some snow our way by Thursday night.
