Low pressure will pass just to our south and east later today and it will generate occasional showers in the local region right through the afternoon. The clouds and rainfall from this coastal low pressure system will help to confine temperatures to unusually cool levels for this time of year. This system moves away late tonight and the end of the work week and the beginning of the holiday weekend will stay cool for this time of year. In fact, the upcoming holiday weekend could start off near record cold levels in much of the Mid-Atlantic region.
By Sunday, however, temperatures will become noticeably higher and then Monday will bring a threat for showers and thunderstorms from a frontal system and it'll turn quite warm. That same front will combine with a second front on Tuesday of next week to continue our threat for showers and thunderstorms along with continued quite warm conditions.
