Discussion

Low pressure will pass just to our south and east later today and it will generate occasional showers in the local region during the afternoon and early evening hours. The clouds and rainfall from this coastal low pressure system will help to confine temperatures to unusually cool levels for this time of year. This system moves away late tonight and the end of the work week and the beginning of the holiday weekend will stay quite cool for this time of year. In fact, the upcoming holiday weekend could start off at near record cold levels in much of the Mid-Atlantic region.

By Sunday, however, temperatures will become noticeably higher and then Monday will bring a threat for showers and thunderstorms from a frontal system along with warm conditions. That same front will combine with a second front on Tuesday of next week to continue our threat for showers and thunderstorms along with continued warm conditions.
