Discussion
High pressure continues to control the weather in the Mid-Atlantic region with comfortably warm days full of sunshine and pleasantly cool nights. This overall weather pattern will continue right through Saturday and then a weak frontal system could spark an isolated shower or thunderstorm on Sunday as slightly cooler air returns to the region.
Elsewhere, even though we are have just passed the climatological peak of the Atlantic tropical season, sea surface temperatures continue to run at above-normal levels near the east coast and throughout the Gulf of Mexico. As a result, there is still plenty of time and reason to believe that tropical activity can still have an affect on the US mainland this year as we progress into the fall season. In fact, there are currently two waves in the tropical Atlantic that will have to be monitored over the next several days as they head in a general westward direction over those generally warmer-than-normal waters.
