Discussion
A major rain event is on the way for the Mid-Atlantic region and it could result in a widespread area of 1.0 to 2.0 inches of rain by early Thursday. The combination of moisture left behind by Hurricane Patricia and a strong cold frontal system will generate rain in this area beginning late tonight and the rain will fall heavily at times on Wednesday and Wednesday night. Winds could actually get quite gusty on Wednesday and there can be a rumble of thunder or two. The tropical air mass to our south will be forced to ride up and over the current entrenched chilly air mass in our region and this will contribute to the significant rainfall.
