Discussion
A cold front passed through the region late yesterday and the result will be noticeably cooler conditions today, but still above-normal for this time of year. Watch for early morning black ice patches; especially, in the northern and western suburbs where temperatures are near the freezing mark this morning. Meanwhile, a major storm will pound the northern Plains and Upper Midwest today with blizzard conditions and this storm will send a strong cold front in our direction over the next 24 hours. In the storm’s warm sector, severe weather is possible later today across the Mississippi Valley. Temperatures here on Wednesday will jump ahead of the front – likely reaching 60+ degrees for highs – and the rain will fall heavily at times. The combination of the heavy rain and melting snow will cause some flooding on Wednesday all along the I-95 corridor. Seasonably cold air returns for the latter part of the week and upcoming weekend.
