Our active weather pattern will continue over the next several days and the result will be a lot of rainfall around here. Moisture from the southern states will produce some rain in the area from later this morning into early tonight and then there is the likelihood for a major rain event early next week along with strong winds. Low pressure will strengthen near the Mid-Atlantic coastline early next week and only move slowly up the eastern seaboard. In fact, this system is likely to come in two parts with the first system spreading rain into the area from Sunday into Monday and then a second and stronger system will push more rain here for later Monday into early Tuesday. The second system will see an influx of colder air wrapping into it and the rain can change to accumulating snow in the higher elevations of interior Northeast US. There is even an outside chance that the rain changes briefly to snow around here late Monday night or early Tuesday before ending as the overall system finally pulls away to our northeast. A more sustained colder weather pattern begins in the eastern US later next week.
