Discussion

A strong northwest flow follows yesterday’s coastal storm and the much colder-than-normal air mass stays in place right through the weekend. There is also a good chance for snow showers today and perhaps even an isolated heavier snow squall or two this afternoon which can bring quick small accumulations of an inch or so. Low temperatures during the next couple of nights should drop into the teens in many suburban locations. High pressure builds into the area on Friday, but then another "clipper" low pressure system will head in our direction by Friday night/early Saturday and it can bring with it some more snow and sleet. One final note, Philly Airport officially reported 8.3 inches from this latest storm and now has more than 17 inches measured for the winter season - pretty close to normal - and winter is not over yet.
