Discussion
A cold front passed the region last night and has ushered in an unseasonably cool air mass for the beginning of September. High temperatures today and Saturday will be confined to the 60’s in most areas – well-below normal for this time of year. In addition to the chill, moisture from the remnants of Harvey will push to the northeast and interact with an upper-level trough of low pressure. The result will be some rainfall for the Mid-Atlantic region on Saturday and perhaps into early Sunday. Overall weather conditions should improve noticeably by the early part of next week. Elsewhere, the tropics remain quite active and Hurricane Irma will track in a general westward motion in coming days. Irma may very well become a concern for somewhere in the US in about ten days or so - stay tuned.
