Discussion

A strong cold front will head towards the east coast later today and bring some shower and thunderstorm activity to the region. This front will then stall along the coastline later tonight and low pressure will ride up along the frontal boundary zone on Wednesday. As a result, the threat for rain and possible thunderstorms will continue tomorrow and some of the rain can be heavy at times between late this afternoon and tomorrow night. Ahead of the front, temperatures will climb into the 80’s today, but will be confined to the 60’s on Wednesday with the clouds and rain. Meanwhile, Irma continues to churn over the Atlantic now as a category 5 “major” hurricane and is currently on a westerly track. It is looking increasingly likely that Hurricane Irma could have a significant impact on southern Florida by late in the upcoming weekend.
