Discussion
Strong, cold high pressure from southeastern Canada will edge into the Northeast US today and will become a source of cold air over the next few days as a complex area of low pressure heads towards the region. In fact, it is looking like two separate low pressure systems may form over the next couple of days and there are forecasting complexities associated with each system. The first system is likely to generate precipitation on Tuesday and while there can be some accumulating snow, this event is likely to feature a mixture of snow, sleet and rain. The second system is likely to become the stronger of the two and take place in an overall colder environment with mainly snow later tomorrow night and Wednesday. The northern extent of this second storm still has some questions, but this one could produce significant snow accumulations in our area with increasing winds. Stay tuned.
