Discussion
There is a major warm up coming here later this week and for the weekend, but it will be just a temporary break in the overall colder-than-normal weather pattern that we have been experiencing for several weeks now. It stays chilly today and Wednesday with nothing more than an isolated lingering shower this morning as low pressure pulls away from the coastline. The warm up begins in earnest on Thursday as southwesterly winds pick up in intensity and temperatures will climb well into the 70's on Friday and Saturday - perhaps even a flirtation with the 80 degree mark. We'll transition back to colder-than-normal weather by the early part of next week and the transition won't come quietly as a heavy rain event is likely here from Sunday night into Monday and there may be thunderstorm activity as well. One final note, we'll have to watch for a possible back door cold front on Sunday which could generate much cooler conditions around here compared to the warmth expected on Saturday.
