Discussion
As high pressure expands to our north today at all levels of the atmosphere, an onshore flow of air will solidify and winds will persistently reach 20+ mph from an E-to-NE direction. In fact, this overall pattern of mainly sunny skies, warm conditions and gusty winds will continue for the remainder of the week. A weak “tropical-looking” system is likely to form near the Bahamas by the end of the week and we’ll monitor that interesting system. Elsewhere, it has been a slow tornado season so far this year across the central Plains, but there could be an outbreak of severe weather on Wednesday as a clash develops in that part of the country between warm, humid advancing northward from the Gulf of Mexico air and cold air sliding eastward across the southwestern US.
