Discussion
A cold front will approach the region later today and it is likely to generate some shower and thunderstorm activity from later this afternoon into the evening hours. While this will be a quick hitting event and little in the way of total rainfall amounts, there can be a few isolated strong storms with gusty winds and even some possible hail. Following the nighttime frontal passage, high pressure will take control of our weather on Wednesday and Thursday with quite nice weather conditions expected across the Mid-Atlantic region albeit a bit cooler-than-normal. Another frontal system will bring a return of unsettled weather as we end the work week and enter the upcoming weekend and no doubt, showers and thunderstorms will threaten on both weekend days as that is what it does around here in this particular spring (it would be the 7th weekend in a row with some rain).
