Discussion
A very wet weather pattern in the Mid-Atlantic region will continue for another 24 hours as a deep upper-level trough edges northeastward from the Southeast US. The movement to the northeast of this upper-level feature will act to provide additional "lift" to the atmosphere which should be enough to continue the chance for tropical downpours in the DC-Philly-NYC corridor later today. The threat of showers and thunderstorms will continue here on Thursday and Friday; but the rain will be less widespread and there should be some sunshine on each day. High pressure edges in for the weekend which is looking pretty decent at this point, but more wet weather is likely next week.
