Discussion

Yet another period of wet weather is unfolding for the eastern third of the nation and it will include some downpours for the I-95 corridor during the second half of the week. Strong upper-level low pressure has developed over the Midwest and it will combine with a Bermuda High to pump moist air from the tropical Atlantic to the Mid-Atlantic during the next several days. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible around here later today and tonight and then are likely to be more widespread in the Wednesday-to-Friday time period. Given the fact that grounds are very well saturated throughout the region, flash flooding will likely become an increasing threat as the week progresses.
