Discussion

Hot and humid weather will continue for another day around here with high temperatures climbing towards the middle 90's, but some relief is on the way. In fact, by the time Friday afternoon rolls around high temperatures should be closer to 85 degrees thanks to an easterly flow of air compared to the middle 90's expected later today. A cool front will approach the area on Thursday and raise the chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms and then it’ll grudgingly pass to our southeast on Friday as it weakens. It’ll stay close enough to keep it unsettled around here on Friday and during the upcoming weekend with a good chance for clouds and even some occasional shower and thunderstorm activity. Elsewhere, the Atlantic Basin tropical scene has been relatively quiet in August, but it looks like the calendar change to September will bring about a significant change. There are signs for a burst of activity in the tropical Atlantic during the first couple weeks of September and there could be a tropical storm near Florida or the Gulf of Mexico as early as next Monday (Labor Day).
