Discussion
Low pressure will slide through the eastern Great Lakes region today and a strong cold front will trail on its southern side all the way into the southern states. Spotty, light mixed precipitation may break out here today, but the steadier and heavier stuff holds off until late in the day or early tonight. Any mixed precitation early tonight should change to all snow with accumulations possible on the order of a coating to a couple of inches. Untreated roads could deteriorate quite quickly early tonight with dropping temperatures and the changeover to snow. A true Arctic frontal boundary arrives on Wednesday and it is likely to be accompanied by strong wind gusts, possible snow showers, and perhaps even a heavier snow squall. The best chance for snow on Wednesday will come between the hours of 10AM and 4PM. Arctic air then blasts into the Mid-Atlantic region on Wednesday night and temperatures could be near zero degrees in many spots by early Thursday morning.
