Discussion
An upper-level trough will intensify today over the Tennessee Valley as the combination of northern and southern stream energy pushes east from the middle of the country. As a result, showers and thunderstorms are likely in this region later today and tonight and high moisture content in the lower levels of the atmosphere can help to generate some heavier rain bands - perhaps even a strong thunderstorm or two. The upper-level trough will shift to the east of here on Friday and the weather should improve nicely going into what looks like a pretty promising weekend.
