Discussion

The cold front that pushed through the region in the early morning hours on Wednesday will turn around today and move to the north as a warm front. As a result, the cold conditions that start the day will give way to milder weather this afternoon as low pressure starts to pull in this direction from the Tennessee Valley. This low pressure system will have lots of support in the upper atmosphere resulting in a soaking rain event around here from later today into early Friday. A strong cold front will push across the region on Friday and the winds should increase noticeably with gusts past 40 mph possible out of the northwest. Over the weekend, a weak wave of energy will head into the eastern states and it may produce a bit of snow in the region on Saturday night or Sunday.
