The month of March has been unusually dry in the Mid-Atlantic region, but a soaking rain event will begin on Thursday and continue into early Friday. High pressure takes control again today we’ll have a bit of a warm up compared to the chill of the past couple of days. A strong low pressure system will then push into the Ohio Valley on Thursday and ultimately, to a position off the Mid-Atlantic coastline by early Friday. As a result, rain should push into the area early Thursday and continue off and on into early Friday. As colder air filters in from the northwest, there is a good chance that the rain mixes with or changes to snow by early Friday before the precipitation event winds down in the I-95 corridor. A cold start to the weekend will follow as Canadian high pressure builds back into the northeastern quadrant of the nation. Looking ahead, warmer weather returns early next week with highs back in the 60's.
