Discussion

A new month, a new year, and a new weather pattern that has resulted in overnight snow in parts of the Mid-Atlantic region and it’ll be a cold start to the week here with some snow developing and temperatures confined to the 30’s.  The snow will accumulate more to the south and east in this storm and less or not at all to the north and west. Specifically, accumulations of 1-3 inches are possible later today in Philly and nearby areas with little to no snow likely in the far northwest suburbs. The Jersey Shore region from Atlantic City-to-Cape May can get pounded by this storm with 6-10 inches likely down there. Low pressure will push away from the Mid-Atlantic coastline later this morning and high pressure will take control of the weather for tonight and Tuesday.  It’ll turn milder for a brief time at mid-week as high pressure pushes off the coast, but another cold front will usher in colder air for the late week time period.  By Thursday night and Friday, we’ll have to watch as low pressure tries to intensify near the Mid-Atlantic coastline and it could produce some accumulating snow in the region.
