Discussion

There can be a few strong-to-severe thunderstorms later today and early tonight and temperatures moderate with afternoon highs likely in the lower 80’s. Looking ahead, the big story will be the surge of high heat across the region later this week and through the upcoming weekend. In fact, after highs in the upper 80’s on Wednesday afternoon, temperatures could surge to record-breaking territory in the 95-100 degree range during the Thursday through Sunday time period. A broad flow of air from the SW US will push northeastward across the Front Range and central Plains later this week and temperatures here will respond in a dramatic fashion.
