Discussion

The next few days will continue to feature rather warm and humid conditions with a daily shot of showers and thunderstorms, but relief is on the way by the weekend. An upper-level wave of energy passes through the area today enhancing the chance of shower/thunderstorm activity form late morning on through the afternoon hours. And any storm that forms today can be strong-to-severe and brief downpours are a possibility. Additional waves of energy will ride along a slow-moving frontal boundary zone on Tuesday and Wednesday keeping the chance alive for showers and thunderstorms. At the end of the week, the front should clear the area and cooler and drier air should push into the Mid-Atlantic region with more comfortable weather conditions likely lasting through the weekend.
