Paul Dorian

Tonight

Becoming mostly cloudy, mild, maybe a shower, lows in the mid 60’s

Saturday

Mainly sunny, warm, low-to-mid 80’s

Saturday Night

Partly cloudy, mild, mid 60’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, warm, cannot rule out an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, mid 80’s

Monday

Tuesday

Partly sunny, quite warm, humid, chance for showers and thunderstorms, near 90

Wednesday

Partly sunny, quite warm, humid, chance for showers and thunderstorms, near 90

Discussion

High pressure will build into the region today and remain nearby right through the upcoming weekend paving the way for yet another nice weekend in the Mid-Atlantic region. By early next week, the high will push well off the east coast and it’ll turn warmer and more humid around here with an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms. Looking ahead, a frontal passage around the middle of next week should pave the way for another refreshing and cooler-than-normal air mass for the Midwest and Northeast US as we approach the 4th of July holiday weekend.

7:00 AM | Another decent weekend headed our way

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly sunny, still quite warm, but with lowering humidity levels, highs not far from 90 degrees

Tonight

Partly cloudy, mild, lows in the upper 60’s

Friday

Mostly sunny, warm, cannot completely rule out a shower or thunderstorm, mid-to-upper 80’s

Friday Night

Partly cloudy, mild, upper 60’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, warm, cannot rule out a shower or thunderstorm, mid-to-upper 80’s

Monday

Partly sunny, quite warm, more humid, chance for showers and thunderstorms, upper 80’s

Tuesday

Partly sunny, quite warm, humid, chance for showers and thunderstorms, near 90

Discussion

A slow-moving cold front generated heavy rain in the region last night and it will work its way through the region today. High pressure will build into the region on Friday and remain nearby through the weekend. Although a shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out from Friday through Sunday, most of the time should be rain-free with comfortable temperatures and humidity levels.

Looking ahead to early next week, it looks like the humidity and warmth will increase as will the threat for showers and thunderstorms. The first glance at the weather on the 4th of July (next Friday) is for slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures around here in the Mid-Atlantic region and much cooler-than-normal over the Midwest/Great Lakes.

Discussion

“Pop-up” showers and thunderstorms have formed just to the southeast of the District and the areal extent of this rainfall should expand during the next few hours as a slow-moving cold front heads our way. The cold front has some upper level support to work with as we progress through the afternoon and evening hours along with a sultry air mass containing plenty of moisture to be "squeezed out". The threat for showers and thunderstorms will continue through the night and there can be localized downpours associated with any shower or thunderstorm.

7:00 AM | *Heavy rain and strong storm threat late today and tonight*

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Partly sunny, quite warm, uncomfortably humid, showers and thunderstorms likely by the end of the afternoon, some of the rain can be heavy at times, highs in the mid-to-upper 80’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, muggy, showers and thunderstorms likely, some of the rain can be heavy at times, lows in the upper 60’s

Thursday

Becoming partly-to-mostly sunny and less humid, quite warm, upper 80’s

Thursday Night

Partly cloudy, mild, mid-to-upper 60’s

Friday

Partly sunny, quite warm, cannot rule out a shower or thunderstorm, upper 80’s

Saturday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid-to-upper 80’s

Monday

Partly sunny, quite warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, upper 80’s

Discussion

A slow-moving cold front will reach the Mid-Atlantic region later today trailing a low pressure system that will slide to the north of the area. Showers and thunderstorms are likely by the end of the afternoon and through much of the nighttime. Some of the rain that falls can be on the heavy side and strong thunderstorms could mix into the picture. After early morning clouds and on Thursday, more comfortable air will push into the area and remain into the weekend.

7:00 AM | Threat for showers and storms returns on Wednesday and some of the rain can be heavy; no excessive heat seen this week

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Partly sunny, breezy, warm, a bit more humid by later in the day, highs in the middle 80’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, mild, lows near 70 degrees

Wednesday

Partly sunny, warm, humid, showers and thunderstorms likely late, some of the rain can be heavy, mid-to-upper 80’s

Wednesday Night

Mostly cloudy, muggy, showers and thunderstorms likely, some of the rain can be heavy, mild, upper 60’s

Thursday

Partly sunny, warm, mid-to-upper 80’s

Friday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms at night, mid-to-upper 80’s

Saturday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Discussion

Low pressure will lift northeastward from the Plains into the Ohio Valley by tomorrow and its associated cold front will approach our area later on Wednesday. As a result, humidity will creep up later today and the threat for showers and thunderstorms will increase significantly by later tomorrow. Some of the rain that falls late Wednesday and Wednesday night can be on the heavy side along with some strong thunderstorm activity and then high pressure should resume control of the weather late in the work week. No excessive heat is expected around here right through the upcoming weekend.

7:00 AM | Nice start to the week; mid-week front brings the threat for showers/storms

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly sunny, pleasantly warm, highs in the low-to-mid 80’s

Tonight

Partly cloudy, mild, lows in the mid 60’s

Tuesday

Partly sunny, still comfortably warm, mid 80’s

Tuesday Night

Mostly cloudy, chance for shower and thunderstorms, mild, near 70

Wednesday

Mainly cloudy, warm, showers and thunderstorm likely, upper 80’s

Thursday

Mainly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Friday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Saturday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid-to-upper 80’s

Discussion

High pressure will control our weather as we begin the new work week, but then a strong frontal system will approach at mid-week. As a result, the threat for showers and thunderstorms will remain low for today, but will increase by Tuesday night and Wednesday. The front will stall just south of our area during the second half of the week keeping the threat alive for more showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures for the week should hold at relatively moderate levels with 90 degrees just an outside chance for highs during the next several days.

Today

Mostly sunny, pleasant, highs in the lower 80’s

Tonight

Becoming mostly cloudy, mild, chance for shower late, lows in the low-to-mid 60’s

Saturday

Mostly cloudy, quite cool, showers likely in the morning and mid-day hours, mid-to-upper 70’s

Saturday Night

Mostly cloudy, chance for a couple of showers, cool, low 60’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, comfortable, maybe a shower or thunderstorm, low 80’s

Monday

Mostly sunny, pleasantly warm, low-to-mid 80’s

Tuesday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Wednesday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Discussion

A cold front cleared the region yesterday and ushered in much more comfortable air and those newly-arrived pleasant temperatures and humidity levels will continue right through the upcoming weekend. The front has stalled out just to the south of here and it could generate showers around here on Saturday; primarily, focused on the first half of the day. Sunday and Monday promise to be rather nice days with mainly rain-free conditions.

7:00 AM | The recent excessive heat will be replaced by much more comfortable conditions by later tonight; weekend could feature some shower/storm activity, but overall not too bad

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Lots of clouds today limiting sunshine, not as hot as yesterday, but still humid, showers and thunderstorms likely and some of the storms can be on the strong side, highs in the upper 80's

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, showers and thunderstorms likely, some of the storms can be strong, mild, low-to-mid 60’s

Friday

Mostly sunny, much more comfortable, mid 80’s

Friday Night

Mostly cloudy, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mild, mid 60’s

Saturday

Mainly cloudy, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mild, low 80’s

Sunday

Partly sunny, comfortable temperatures, maybe a shower or thunderstorm, low 80's

Monday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Tuesday

Partly sunny, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Discussion

Powerful thunderstorms pounded parts of the region overnight well ahead of a cold frontal system and those storms put an end to our two-days of excessive heat as temperatures this afternoon should hold in the upper 80's for highs. A cold front will pass through the area today generating another round of showers and thunderstorms and some of the storms can be on the strong side. Much more comfortable air will flow into the region later tonight following the cold frontal passage and Friday's promises to be a nice day to close out the work week. The cold frontal systems stalls close enough to the region this weekend to bring us the threat for showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, but the day should not be a total washout and Sunday is likely to feature plenty of rain-free time. Temperatures from tomorrow through the weekend will be in a very comfortable range for this time of year.

7:00 Am | Hot again today with highs well up in the 90's; showers/storms threaten tonight with the approach of a cold front

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly sunny despite some high clouds, very hot, humid, gusty westerly winds, chance for a late day shower or thunderstorm, highs in the middle 90’s

Tonight

Mostly cloudy, balmy, scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of the storms that form can be strong, lows in the lower 70’s

Thursday

Mostly cloudy, not quite as hot, humid, chance for showers and thunderstorms, near 90

Thursday Night

Mostly cloudy, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mild, upper 60’s

Friday

Partly sunny, more comfortable, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Saturday

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for showers and thunderstorms, low-to-mid 80’s

Sunday

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for showers and thunderstorms, low-to-mid 80’s

Monday

Partly sunny, mild, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Discussion

A cold front will approach the region later tonight from the north and this will help to generate some shower and thunderstorm activity in the Mid-Atlantic region after a mainly sunny and hot day. Some of the storms that form late today and tonight can be on the strong-to-severe side in parts of the area. Relief is definitely in sight; however, for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in terms of temperatures as high pressure builds in across southeastern Canada sending a back door cold front through New England and into the Mid-Atlantic region. This cold frontal system will stall to our south and then lift northward this weekend causing the likelihood for some shower and thunderstorm activity in the DC metro region.

7:00 AM | Hottest weather of the season so far peaks on Wednesday; temperatures today reach the lower 90's and 95 degrees is possible on Wednesday

Paul Dorian

6-Day Forecast

Today

Mostly sunny, hot, humid, highs in the low 90’s

Tonight

Partly cloudy, warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, lows in the lower 70’s

Wednesday

Mostly sunny, very hot, humid, good chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid-to-upper 90’s

Wednesday Night

Mostly cloudy, warm and muggy, good chance for showers and thunderstorms, low-to-mid 70’s

Thursday

Partly sunny, hot, humid, chance for more showers and thunderstorms, near 90

Friday

Partly sunny, not as warm, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid-to-upper 80’s

Saturday

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Sunday

Mostly cloudy, mild, chance for showers and thunderstorms, mid 80’s

Discussion

High pressure will move off the east coast today, but it should be close enough to cap any potential thunderstorm activity that might otherwise form in this type of pattern. A cold front will then approach the region later tomorrow night and this frontal system will ultimately set up shop just to our south at the end of the week. As a result, there is a threat for showers and thunderstorms late tomorrow and tomorrow night and some of the storms that develop can be on the strong-to-severe side. Unsettled weather is likely around here this weekend associated with the stalled out frontal system just to our south and this will put our current "nice weekend weather winning streak" in serious jeopardy as there will likely be more in the way of showers and thunderstorms.
