Discussion

A cold front will approach the region later tonight from the north and this will help to generate some shower and thunderstorm activity in the Mid-Atlantic region after a mainly sunny and hot day. Some of the storms that form late today and tonight can be on the strong-to-severe side in parts of the area. Relief is definitely in sight; however, for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in terms of temperatures as high pressure builds in across southeastern Canada sending a back door cold front through New England and into the Mid-Atlantic region. This cold frontal system will stall to our south and then lift northward this weekend causing the likelihood for some shower and thunderstorm activity in the DC metro region.
