Discussion
Today will be another hot day in the metro region, but relief is definitely in sight for Friday, Saturday and Sunday as high pressure builds in across southeastern Canada sending a back door cold front through New England and into the Mid-Atlantic region. This cold front will approach the region later tonight and this will help to generate some shower and thunderstorm activity in the Mid-Atlantic region after a mainly sunny and hot day. Some of the storms that form late today and tonight can be on the strong-to-severe side in parts of the area. This cold frontal system will stall to our south at the end of the week and will then lift northward later this weekend causing the likelihood for some shower and thunderstorm activity to return to the NYC metro region by the end of the weekend or early part of next week.
