Strong upper-level low will slide into the Southeast US today and help to drive a strong cold front into the region. This front will enhance our chances for showers and thunderstorms today and then will result in much cooler-than-normal conditions for the mid and late week. In fact, high temperatures will be confined to the 70’s through the second half of the week

A strong cold front will dive to the southeast from the Upper Midwest over the next couple of days and it’ll usher in much cooler-than-normal air for this time of year into the Deep South. In fact, temperatures by mid-week will be well-below normal all across the Southeast US and temperatures here should be confined to the 70’s for highs for a couple of days. Ahead of the front, there will be the good chance for some shower activity and perhaps some strong thunderstorms as well in much of the Southeast US.

Strong high pressure remains entrenched over the eastern US and this will keep onshore flow in this area right into the weekend. As a result, there will be a daily threat for showers and onshore winds will remain quite noticeable with gusts to 25 or 30 mph. By early next week, attention will turn to a cold front that will be dropping southeastward into the Southeast US and our winds will veer more southerly and this will add to the instability in the region. By the middle of next week, more comfortable temperatures are likely following the frontal passage.

Strong high pressure continues to sit over the Mid-Atlantic region and it will do so for the remainder of the week and influence our local weather conditions. From that particular location, this high pressure system will be able to generate a continuing onshore flow for our area right into the upcoming weekend. As a result, there will be a daily threat for showers and onshore winds will be quite noticeable.

Strong high pressure will remain relatively stationary over the Mid-Atlantic region for the remainder of the week and it will continue to have an influence on the local weather conditions. From that position, the high pressure system will generate a persistent onshore flow for our area through the week and into the weekend. As a result, there will be a daily threat for showers and thunderstorms - given the added moisture from off the ocean - and winds will be quite noticeable from off the ocean.

The combination of an area of weak low pressure and high pressure moving southward along the Mid-Atlantic coastline will keep us in an onshore flow and this enhanced moisture will generate a good chance of showers and thunderstorms as we close out the work week. This threat for scattered rain will continue on Saturday, but should diminish somewhat on Sunday as there is some drying in the upper part of the atmosphere.

A weak trough of low pressure will bring some added moisture to the region today, but the chances for rain will be somewhat limited due to the continuing impact here by the strong ridge of high pressure over the western Atlantic. On Friday, however, and continuing into early next week, an even more moist flow of air from the east will enhance our chances for showers and thunderstorms across central Florida and a weak frontal system will stall out nearby as well.
