A very wet weather pattern will impact much of the Deep South and Southeast US over the next few days including right here in central Florida. A deep upper-level trough of low pressure will push just to the west of here and this will set the stage for copious amounts of moisture to flow northward from the Gulf of Mexico into the Southeast US in coming days.

The next couple of days will generally be limited in terms of shower activity, but a wetter pattern is setting up for the weekend. A trough of low pressure will extend southward along the eastern seaboard by the weekend and it’ll help to increase chances here for showers and thunderstorms. In fact, the threat for rain will increase at the end of the work week and likely continue right into the early part of next week.

High pressure will then slide off the Mid-Atlantic coast on Tuesday and allow for onshore winds to develop around here through mid-week. Meanwhile, the 2019 Atlantic Basin tropical season “officially” began on Saturday, June 1st and there is a disturbance in the southwest Gulf of Mexico that has a chance of strengthening into a named storm in coming days as it moves northward along Mexico’s west coast and then near or along the east coast of Texas.
