7:00 AM | *Unsettled pattern continues with very warm, humid conditions and a shower/storm threat each day this week*

Paul Dorian

The overall pattern remains quite unsettled for Florida as deep moisture will continue the daily chance for showers and thunderstorms as we progress through the remainder of the week. Temperatures will be close to seasonably hot levels each day with highs right near the 90 degree mark. The Atlantic Basin tropical scene is rather quiet and may that way for the next couple of days. One wave that was in the eastern part of the Caribbean on Monday has dissipated as it encountered some very dry air.

7:00 AM | *Deep low-level moisture entrenched in the area*

Paul Dorian

A mid-level trough of low pressure will extend north from the Gulf of Mexico into the SE US today and will gradually slide towards the Florida Peninsula. As a result, it’ll stay unsettled around here with entrenched deep moisture and a daily threat of showers and thunderstorms. The overall moisture content in the lower atmosphere may diminish some later in the week as low-level flow switches to more of a westerly direction rather than southerly.

7:00 AM | *Watching a potential tropical storm in the Atlantic*

Paul Dorian

The tropics are showing some life as the month of August gets underway with multiple waves in the eastern Atlantic. One such tropical wave has a pretty good chance of intensification in coming days as it travels over warm waters and encounters a more favorable atmosphere with less wind shear. As a result, there very well may be a tropical storm to deal with by the middle of next week in the western part of the Atlantic Ocean.

7:00 AM | *Keeping an eye on the tropics*

Paul Dorian

The tropics are showing some signs of life as the month of August approaches with a couple of waves to monitor in the Atlantic Basin. The dry air mass that has encompassed the tropical Atlantic in recent days has retreated to the north in recent days and a very moist plume of air now extends from the west coast of Africa to the Gulf of Mexico. As a result, more favorable conditions are setting up potentially for tropical activity in the Atlantic Basin…stay tuned. Our chances for showers and thunderstorms in the local vicinity will remain today, but will tend to increase noticeably as we approach the upcoming weekend.

7:00 AM | *New week...same weather pattern*

Paul Dorian

An upper-level trough over the eastern US will stay in place for much of the week with surface high pressure building over the western Atlantic. From this position, very warm and humid air will flow into the Florida Peninsula from the Gulf of Mexico and we’ll experience highs near the 90 degree mark for much of the week. In addition, the threat for showers and storms will continue around here on a daily basis with the greatest chance during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

7:00 AM | *Wet pattern continues across Florida into next week...tropics still on the quiet side*

Paul Dorian

A stalled frontal system across northern Florida will keep it unsettled around here this weekend and deep moisture will remain entrenched in the area early next week. As a result, the daily shot at showers and thunderstorms will continue from today well into next week and daily highs will be close to the 90 degree mark. Elsewhere, the Atlantic Basin tropical scene remains rather quiet as dry air from the Sahara Desert encompasses much of the tropical Atlantic Ocean region.
