The main story weather-wise for the rest of the week will be the dominate ridging centered over the western Atlantic which will promote a southeasterly flow of air across Florida. The low-level southeasterly flow of air will allow the sea breeze to form by mid-day and likely push well inland resulting in the best chance for shower/storm activity during the PM hours in the western half of the state. The tropics remain quiet, but there are signs that activity may pick up again in the near term and the western Gulf of Mexico may be the region to focus on late this week or during the upcoming weekend. In this particular part of the Gulf, sea surface temperatures are especially warm relative-to-normal and this could fuel the formation of a tropical system. Meanwhile, as high pressure ridging strengthens over the western Atlantic, hot and humid conditions will prevail across Florida for the next few days. Temperatures should climb to within a couple degrees of the 90 degree mark for highs during the next few days and there will be a continuing chance of showers and thunderstorms.
