Following a frontal passage in the overnight hours, drier air has moved into the central Florida region and we’ll experience plenty of sunshine today as we close out the work week along with comfortable high temperatures in the upper 70’s. High pressure should take control this weekend and provide us with decent weather and increasing warmth with highs in the low-to-mid 80’s by Sun day afternoon. This warm up will continue into the first half of next week and highs may not be too far from the 90 degree mark by the middle of next week.

An influx of moisture today will result in a chance of showers in the area as southerly winds dominate along the eastern seaboard. The combination of a west-to-east frontal system and high pressure just off the coast will continue to this southerly flow of air all along the coast. High pressure just off the coast will continue to produce south-to-southeast flow across the area. Winds will become quite noticeable as a cool front approaches the region and tightens the pressure gradient. More moist air will arrive by tonight and the chance of shower and thunderstorm activity will increase and continue on Thursday as well. The next cool frontal system should clear through the area by Thursday night paving the way for dry, warm weather to end the week and start the weekend.

A trough of low pressure will push into the Southeast US today and there can be severe weather in the northern part of the state, but less of a chance here. However, our chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase tonight and continue through the day on Friday. Another cool frontal system will move through northern Florida on Friday before stalling out in the general vicinity. This frontal boundary zone will keep us unsettled through the weekend before some genuine clearing returns early next week.

Unsettled weather will return to Florida during the second half of the week with a daily shot at showers and thunderstorms in the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday time period.
