Discussion

High pressure from the middle of the country has expanded eastward and with it a dome of brutally hot and humid air that has affected the central Plains in recent weeks. This “steam bath” weather with excessive temperatures and humidities will continue through Saturday before some relief takes hold on Sunday. High temperatures will approach 100 degrees on all three days and heat indexes, which take into effect the humidity levels, will likely be closer to 110 degrees. Highs should drop back to the low 90’s on Sunday and the upper 80’s by Monday and Tuesday. This 3-day excessive heat wave will very likely be more of an aberration than the norm for the remainder of the summer.
