Cut the grass on Saturday as a significant and slow-moving rain event is headed our way for Sunday and Monday. High pressure will continue to control the weather today, tonight and tomorrow, but then that system heads off the east coast opening the door for low pressure to move slowly to the Mid-Atlantic from the Ohio Valley later in the weekend. Temperatures and humidity levels will stay in the comfort zone today as well as for tonight and it’ll be a great evening to watch the Yankees/Rays game in the Bronx. Also, viewing conditions should be quite nice for the annual peak of the Perseid meteor shower late tonight. A full moon, however, is expected to interfere somewhat with the viewing of the meteor shower this year. When all is said and done, this will likely turn out to be a significant rain event between Saturday night and early Tuesday with a few inches of total rainfall not out of the question for some Mid-Atlantic locations. Elsewhere, the tropical Atlantic continues to heat up as there are now three different areas of disturbed weather that will have to be monitored over the next several days.
