Discussion
New York City continued to experience heavy rainfall yesterday during this very wet month of August, but has not had any contribution to the high monthly totals from any tropical system – and all of could change dramatically later this weekend. Last week we discussed the potential threat for a tropical system to affect the southeast US late this week for the first time this hurricane season and now all eyes are on Hurricane Irene. It appears that Irene will head towards the east coast of Florida by around Friday. It could possibly then take a track right along the east coast and threaten us with heavy rain by late this weekend - adding to our already excessive monthly rainfall totals.
