Discussion
High pressure stationed over the Ohio Valley will control our weather through mid-week featuring plenty of sunshine and comfortable conditions. August closes out tomorrow and it, of course, has been an unbelievable month for rainfall here in the Philadelphia region with 19.31 recorded at the Philly Airport in South Philadelphia and this is by far the highest total ever recorded in any month. Temperatures have actually dropped to slightly below normal for the month by about half a degree with all of the recent cloud cover and rainfall. Elsewhere, the tropics remain active and there is a new tropical storm called “Katia” and it will become a strong hurricane by next week as it only slows moves through the Atlantic. It is too early to say for sure whether it will ever reach the US east coast and, if that were to actually happen, it would not be until late next week. Also, indications are quite strong that a tropical system will develop in the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend possibly heading ultimately in the direction of Texas or Louisiana.
